Story
On May 20th 2023 I will be riding from Cardiff to Tenby, 108 miles (wish it was on a motorbike) to raise money for the Noah's Ark Charity.
The charity is very close to me and Hannah has unfortunately we were told in August 2022 that our daughter Poppy-Rose had a rare form of brain tumour that if not treated soon would cause her to lose her eye sight.
Poppy started an 18 month cycle of chemotherapy late last year in the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales in Cardiff. The strength and commitment she has shown has been nothing but inspiring and inspirational. I have not heard her complain despite all the sickness, fatigue and other side affects that come with such treatment.
This has come at a time where she's entered the last year of primary school, when she should be making memories with her friends and also when she was on the tracks of becoming a very talented football player, for her club and county. All this has been taking away from her. Shes missed a lot of school and can no longer play football.
When i heard that the CARTEN were raising funds to support the Noah's Ark Charity i had to sign up. A days worth of pain on the bike is nothing in comparison to what Poppy is going through right now.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart if you can spare what ever you can to support such a great charity/Hospital, a place that looks after our children in times when it is needed. The care of the nurses and consultants have been outstanding. I dont know where we would be without them.
Thank you for supporting me as I take on the CARTEN100 in 2023, raising funds for the Noah's Ark Charity. As the official charity of the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales, children and families are at the heart of everything the charity do.Working closely with, but independently of the NHS, their goal is to support the Noah's Ark Children's Hospital for Wales as it continues to strive for excellence in paediatric care. Every year 73,000 children, from across Wales, receive specialist and life-saving treatment. Having raised more than £23 million to build and equip the hospital, today they work hand in hand with the NHS, providing funding for the most up to date equipment, facilities and support services for families like the play specialist team, who help children be children, despite the difficulties they are facing. Their mission is to create brighter todays and better tomorrows, ensuring the best outcome and experience possible for the children of Wales.
