Story
The match will be played at St Albans Cricket Club in Clarence Park on Sunday the 1st July 2018 and will have a mix of St Albans and St John Fishers CC players along with a number of high profile sporting legends. This will be the third match played and in previous years we have had the likes of Mick Harford, Devon Malcolm, Nathan Jones and David James don the pads and gloves and show us their support. The game is in memory of our late friend and former team mate Phil Milton and the charity was chosen based on my little grandson being diagnosed with cancer. Almost 4,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK. That’s ten every day. Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children’s charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer. They fund life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of childhood cancer and we work to protect young lives through essential welfare programmes. My lovely six year old grandson Luca is currently suffering from Rhabdomyosarcoma a rare and very aggressive form of cancer which has obviously come as devastating news. He continues to fight but to date even after three operations and twenty two weeks of chemotherapy his tumour has continued to grow.He has started another form of chemotherapy recently which is called a "holding form" as yet they can't find a treatment that will fight the cancer. If well enough he will be there on the day.Thank you for taking the time to read my story and I would be grateful as would many other children suffering from cancer if you would like to make a donation.
