Story
I am fortunate that no-one in my circle of family and friends has suffered with Motor Neuron Disease and my awareness of the disease was limited but I have been inspired by the amazing work done by ex-Scotland and British Lions rugby player, Doddie Weir, since his diagnosis in 2017. I am supporting DoddieAid2022 to do my bit.
During 2022 I will be pedalling my bike and making personal donations and if you are inspired by Doddie Weir, his MyName'5Doddie Foundation and the support it gives to MND research and individuals living with MND, I would ask you to join me.
I have a few age-related issues which leave me with a very dodgy ankle, a very dodgy back and severe baldness 😉. The first two mean I sometimes need some assistance with my cycling and for that I use a superb Ribble e-bike. For the baldness I use a cycling balaclava to keep my head warm 🤣 A very clever app tracks my mileage and importantly how many miles I pedal unassisted and how many miles I get electrical assistance.
Doddie Aid 2022 ran from New Year's Day to 12th February and during that time I clocked up 400 unassisted miles against my initial target of 250.
The adventure now continues out in The Hebrides
Please donate what you can. I will of course keep you updated and continue to bombard you with photos of my bike in outstanding locations.
