I’ve never done anything like this before, so it’s a personal
challenge for me. A challenge of 75 miles off road, on a mountain bike from
London to Brighton but this holds no challenge compared to others and what they
have faced .
With this, my champion and inspiration for this ride, is a
very special 7 year old lad. My girlfriends son, called Louis, who has endured
more than most and is now living and dealing with it but with the biggest of smiles,
full of laughter and a zest and love for life that most others lack. Never
complaining, never down and not questioning ‘why me?’.
During my training and the bike challenge, when I am facing
troubles, adversity and pain, I think of Louis and it pushes me on with a smile
and realisation that its nothing compared to what he, his Mum and Dad have
faced, but especially Louis. I am so glad, in this instance, to be riding on
behalf of British Heart Foundation and hope to raise as much cash as possible
and raise awareness that heart disease effects all ages including children.
Heart disease is one of the biggest killers in the UK with
hundreds of thousands diagnosed at a critical situation. Like I said, this isn’t
just the elderly that is effected but all ages, especially in children, which
can be fatal.
Cash raised for the BHF helps them to fight heart disease,
funding research into treatments and cures that keep more hearts like Louis’s
beating. We all know of family and friends that have been effected by heart
disease and one of my favourite sayings is,
"You may never know what results come of your action but if you do nothing, there will be no result’’.
Very true. Never under estimate the
difference you can make in the lives of others. Step forward, reach out and help. Any shrapnel or notes you can afford to
donate, doesn’t matter how small or big, please do so. It’s a great cause and
can make the difference to so many. Please see my Just Giving link and follow
the instructions .Peace and much love to you all.
