Story
I am undertaking this challenge as I am wanting to raise much needed funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK to help them get through the lockdown.
My Name is David Gale and I am 36 years old and I live with my wife Tracey and my son Spencer who is 5. I live in a village called Templand near Lockerbie in Dumfries and Galloway.
Due to having the muscle wasting disability Becker Muscular Dystrophy since diagnosis at the age of 5 I have long been a passionate campaigner for the charity. Having numerous successful campaigns in the past and winning awards for campaigning. I am at the stage where walking is becoming difficult so I wanted to do something that would really challenge me. I hope during this I will also get people who will help contribute to the number of miles I complete.
With being on the charities Scottish council I thought what better to use as my inspiration than the classic 1988 Proclaimers song I'm Gonna be (500 Miles). So that is where the 500 miles idea came from.
I have no specific target but any amount off anybody will be greatly appreciated. Charities need our support more now than ever and if charities disappear it will cause more issues for the NHS.
