Story
After 4 years of deliberation I have committed to take on the challenge of cycling from London to Cannes in March this year. I am doing this as part of a group fundraising challenge on a supported ride, raising money for Club Peloton, a charity whose beneficiaries include Coram, MSA Trust, TOM and CFC.
The Ride
7 Days | 1,438km | 17,498m ascent
The 7 days are made up of the following routes, distances and climbs:
- London-Folkestone 116km | 1250m ascent
- Calais - Soissons 264km | 2470m ascent
- Soissons - Auxerre 237km | 2500m ascent
- Auxerre - Chalon 196km | 2450 ascent
- Chalon - Valence 255km | 2330m ascent
- Valence - Greoux-les-Bains 210km | 3400m ascent
- Greoux-les-Bains - Cannes 160km | 3098m ascent
There is a support bus coming along but my aim (and therefore challenge to sponsor!) is to ride every stage of every day, covering the full distance in the 7 days. For the mathematicians amongst you that is an average of over 200km per day with some significant climbing in the last 2 days to finish us off.
Considering my longest ride prior to signing up for this was 100km, completed once, (and it took me 3 days to recover from) this is a serious challenge so all the help and encouragement you are able to provide via sponsorship to this very worthy charity would be greatly appreciated.
