Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have rather naively signed up to ride from London to Paris at the end of July 2019. I will not be alone in my challenge and have managed to enlist one of my best friends, Paul Haynes to join me on the ride.
We will be raising vital funds for Parkinson's UK to aid critical research and to support families living with this awful disease. The ride is in tribute to my Father In Law, Richard Scarfe, he was diagnosed at the relatively young age of 51 with the disease. Richard was a lovely man and bravely battled the disease for nearly twenty years however he sadly passed away in July of last year. Richard was a keen cyclist and spent much of his youth in the saddle and even cycled tandem for Wales in the late sixties. One of his great passions was the Tour De France and he regularly made the trip to France to watch the Tour. We felt that it would be a fitting tribute to Richard to take on the 350mile cycle from London to Paris over an epic four day cycle concluded in Paris for the final stage of the Tour.
We have set ourselves a challenging target and would be grateful of any support to help us raise as much money as we can for Parkinson's UK. It will also have the added benefit of helping motivate two slightly chubby middle aged men as they begin the process of getting fit enough to even take on this epic challenge.
