Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Last year I ran the Great Yorkshire Run as a personal challenge and did not ask for sponsors or raise any money. In 2009 I raised over £165.00 for June Hancocks Mesothelioma Reseach. This year I am going to be taking part in the Sheffield Half Marathon and hope to raise over £500.00 in aid of Help for Heroes.
H4H was launched on 1st October 2007 to support the heroes wounded while serving our country since 9/11.
Help for Heroes...."It’s about the 'blokes', our men and women of the Armed Forces. It’s about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it’s about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It’s about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It’s about Ben, it’s about Steven and Andy and Mark, it’s about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes."
A Soldier
There is discipline in a soldier, you can see it when he walks.
There is honor in a soldier, you hear it when he talks.
There is courage in a soldier, you can see it in his eyes.,
There is loyalty in a soldier, that he will not compromise.
There is something in a soldier, that makes him stand apart.
There is strength in a soldier, that beats from his heart.
A soldier isn't a title any man can be hired to do.
A soldier is the soul of that man, buried deep inside of you.
A soldier's job isn't finished after an 8 hour day or a 40 hour week.
A soldier is always a soldier, even while he sleeps.
A soldier serves his country first, and his life is left behind,
A soldier has to sacrifice what comes first in a civilian's mind.
If you are civilian - I am saying this to you.....
next time you see a soldier, remember what they do.
A soldier is the reason our land is 'Home of the free',
A soldier is the one that is brave, protecting you and me.
If you are a soldier - I am saying this to you.....
Thank god for every soldier. Thank god for what you do.
H4H has a number of challenges you can take part in to raise money from a bike ride through the New Forest to the Sahara or Kilimanjaro trek or you can create your own! H4H is currently promoting 1H4H - 1 Hour 4 Heroes. Can you give 1 hours pay to H4H? Or spend 1 hour of your time raising money for H4H? Every little really will help.
