Story
This is my personal challenge page for the Inverness Christian Aid Group. Once again I'm going to try to walk 300,000 steps during the month of May (roughly 10,000 steps a day) to raise funds for Christian Aid. It’s an easy enough target every so often, but every day for a month...? Let’s see. (I'm a year older!)
For the first time in a generation, global poverty is rising. Covid-19, conflict, and the climate crisis are pushing more of our global neighbours into a struggle for survival. For Jessica, a loving mother in Zimbabwe drought means every day is a struggle for survival. Like many women, she toils on her farm, but no food can grow on her ashen dry land. She shares her heartbreak: 'My children crave a decent meal, but I can't provide. We often go to bed on an empty stomach. It pains me to send them to bed hungry.' By supporting our fundraising with whatever you can afford, together, we can make a real difference to families just like Jessica's. With support from Christian Aid partners Jessica can learn how to sow drought tolerant crops and how to grow food in dry seasons. She could build a storeroom to preserve food and bounce back from future droughts. Please give today, and help this struggling mother provide food for her family. Thank you.
Before Covid, people in the Inverness area generously donated over £20,000 during Christian Aid Week. Can we do it again? We must!
If you are a taxpayer, please do fill in the Gift Aid details to allow Christian Aid to reclaim the tax on your donation. This increases the value of your donation by 25% at no extra cost to you. You may think that 25% of your donation will make no difference, but if everyone gift-aided who could, the most disadvantaged people of the world would gain an extra £2 million. Please, please do it!
