In the past 3 years I have gained a substantial amount of weight. I put on a whooping 5 stone (31kg) and reached my heaviest weight of just under..... 22 stone (139kg)!! 

I needed to do something about it! If not just to look better but to improve my health and make my life better. I can't even begin to imagine the strain I put on my heart!

I signed up for this London to Brighton Cycle to give myself a goal. So I could really focus on my exercise and diet. Although I may not finish in the fastest time, I know if I can complete this ride, I will be on the right track.
I decided to ride with the British Heart Foundation as it is a great charity doing some great work helping millions of people. Heart disease is the biggest killer in the UK. And it can literally happen to anyone. Even the fittest and healthieat people in the world can be struck down with some sort of heart failure. Members of my own family have suffered with angina, so I couldn't think of a more worthy cause!
