Story
I am running the Paris marathon on 11th April (www.parismarathon.com) to raise money for Ripple Africa, a charity with close ties to my school, Aldenham School. You can find out more about Ripple Africa at www.rippleafrica.org but it is a charity which helps to improve the standard of education and healthcare for the local community around a village on the northern lakeshore of Lake Malawi. The charity believes in giving a hand up, not a hand out.
I've been in touch with Geoff Furber who runs the charity and these are some of the things they are looking for funds for this year:
- Repainting 6 classrooms at Matete Primary School - £400. This is a job that is being done at the moment by the current volunteers. The classrooms are in great need of this but the charity has not really got the funds to do it.
- Maths textbooks plus other books needed for Form 4 at Kapanda School which starts in September (average price £8 each)
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now.
