This COVID19 pandemic has proven once and for all how important our NHS & Caring Community are to our overall survival. They are forever the unsung heroes and have never been recognised for their biblical efforts in saving lives or showing compassion through sweat, tears and through their own broken hearts.
As a military veteran of nearly 30yrs I am now 51yrs old and working from home as a result of the virus.
I have my mother in a Care Home having suffered multiple strokes and with Global Brain Damage. The carers are providing their care like gladiators with a never decreasing workload and reducing resources due to pandemic illnesses and strains.
My 31yr old daughter on 8 April has started her first session of Chemotherapy having been given the devastating news of Stage 3 Breast Cancer. She has had to keep it from her 7yr old daughter, our granddaughter. She has explained that it is an infection due to her daughter being so clever and a worrier! If she hears the word cancer, there is normally only one thought! The NHS are helping my daughter through this and I will be forever grateful.
Whilst working from Home each day both myself and my veteran friend and work colleague Jon Clement, will exercise each day of the next stage of isolation and distancing and cover a distance which will exceed 1000km. This will be done via a series of exercising on Cycle rides, runs and treadmill activity! This has now been extended to cover 2000km......as long as the heroes are at it then so will we!!
As recently seen, our veteran brother in arms Capt Tom Moore aged 99 has pioneered the way to acknowledging our brave heroes in the NHS & Caring community. We should only follow suit and honour those heroes of this pandemic. Not forgetting those lives that have been lost by patients and of those from the NHS/Carers. God Bless
