Story
Last year my very dear friend Bob Wardlaw was diagnosed with PSP (Progressive Supranuclear Palsy). PSP is a very rare and truly horrible disease which affects balance, movement, vision, speech and swallowing. There are currently less than 4,000 sufferers in the UK and there is no known cure. Bob is now 67, but in his mid-forties he discovered running and became an elite runner for his age group, completing his fastest marathon in a staggering 3 hours and 8 minutes! Bob remained a prolific and very entusiastic runner until 2021 when he was forced to retire from running altogether due to his condition.
In his honour and in an effort to raise as much money as possible for this despicable (and under-funded) disease I am attempting to run the London Marathon on 21st April. I am terrified by the prospect but determined to give it my very best. It's frankly the least I can do.
If any of you are able to sponsor me for as little or as much as you can afford, I would be very grateful. My chosen charity is PSPA who are the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of people living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). PSPA provide information and support for people affected by PSP & CBD whilst funding research into the causes, treatment, and eventually a cure. Together we can stop PSP & CBD in their tracks.
Many thanks for all your support and I wish you all a very happy and healthy 2024.
