In 1989, a student said: “I never would have dropped out of college if I’d had my Posse with me.”  An engaged teacher took that message to heart, and shortly thereafter started The Posse Foundation. 

The Posse Foundation identifies, recruits, and trains incredible young leaders and sends them in multicultural teams—Posses—to 64 top colleges and universities across the country.  Posse has supported almost 10,000 students nationwide in winning $1.8 billion in scholarships to Posse's top-tier partner colleges.   57 percent of Posse scholars are first-generation college students.  And what’s more: Posse scholars have a 90% college graduation rate, doubling the national average.  The Posse model works. 

The systemic inequities that afflict our nation have never been more apparent.  Building a more just society for all will require collaborative leaders who span a rich diversity of backgrounds and perspectives. Posse’s core mission is to develop such leaders.

I am proud to be a supporter of Posse Atlanta as a member of the Posse Atlanta Advisory Board.  Posse Atlanta has produced over 700 scholars to date and helps with career advancement for over 350 local Posse alumni.  Our goal is to help develop the next generation of leaders who represent the diversity of this incredible country and seek to build a more equitable society.
