Event: The Big Sleep 2017, on 28 January 2017
Raising money to keep older people in Cumbria warm and well during the cold winter months

Story

I have recently joined Cumbria Community Foundation and one of its many fantastic grant giving activities is the Winter Warmth Appeal.

Hundreds of older people in Cumbria are in danger of becoming ill or even dying due to the cold weather. Now in its fourth year, the Winter Warmth Appeal has saved lives. The Appeal keeps older, colder Cumbrians safe and warm.

The Big Sleep aims to raise as much money as possible for the Winter Warmth Fund. We will distribute it to older people who are in danger because they can’t afford to heat their homes and are forced to make a choice between between heating and eating.
