Story
Last summer, I had the opportunity to spend a day volunteering at the St Elizabeth’s Center, helping to prepare the site for their summer fete. After a hot sticky day of gardening we were given a tour of the centre to find out more about people living with Epilepsy, the challenges of the condition and what care was provided for at St Elizabeths. I was blown away when I learned about the Centre and the condition Epilepsy. I was painfully ignorant of how debilitating epilepsy can be and its links to other conditions which further complicate the care an individual will require. I couldn’t possibly surmise what St Elizabeth’s care and support is offered to individuals with epilepsy as they do so much for not only the person but their family too! What really stuck with me is that they care for people 365 days a year which includes on site school ages 5-19, further education college ages 19-25 and dedicated Adult services with 12 residential purpose-built bungalows to meet the health and social needs of 102 adults with epilepsy. I’m running the London marathon the raise money for the St Elizabeth’s Centre to help them continue the amazing work they do. St Elizabeth’s support is invaluable to people with epilepsy and their families. Keeping them safe and providing the care they need whilst allowing them to experience life, learn and grow old with dignity. Please if you can, donate what you can to this amazing charity.
