Story
After my heart attack in 2011, I had to come to terms with the physical and emotional impact of what had happened to me. Coming as it did, completely out of the blue, I was completely unprepared for how to cope.
Luckily the CARDIAC REHAB SUPPORT WEST SUSSEX team were on hand to guide me back to fitness in a friendly, supportive and controlled environment.
I suffered some damage to my heart as a result of the attack and will therefore never get back to where I was as a cycle racer. I am, however, at least still able to cycle for fitness. I have spent the last 7 years trying to hang on to the idea that I may one day race again, but now I have finally accepted that isn't going to happen!
Having retired last year I thought now would be a good time to combine a challenging cycling event with raising some funds for the people who helped me so much in the early days of my recovery. Something I should of done years ago!
"CRSWS supports those with cardiac conditions. We assist those working to support and advise cardiac patients and their families, including local NHS 'buddy' volunteers. We promote and support a network of local exercise classes run by cardiac qualified fitness instructors. We provide materials and resources to inform the public about heart conditions and how these can affect people's lives. We provide financial support to our local NHS Cardiac Rehab Department to enable the purchase or improvement of equipment or services."
If you've got this far thanks for looking at my page, please donate if you can spare a few ££..... I and the CARDIAC REHAB SUPPORT WEST SUSSEX team will be very grateful.
I hope you never require their services...... I didn't ever think I would!!
