Story
On October 14th I will be running the Royal Parks Half
Marathon raising funds to support the work of Age UK Barnet.
Age UK Barnet is a small independent charity which provides activities and delivers valuable services to the borough’s older population. The staff at Age UK Barnet work tirelessly to challenge the issues faced by the older community.
They ensure the later years of life are lived to the fullest and help empower the older population to keep active, social and fit. Whether its our parents, grandparents or aunts and uncles, old age catches up with us all eventually.
With loneliness rife in the older community, it is important to ensure that every elderly individual has somebody to speak to. In today's fast paced world, it is easy for the elderly to be left behind. The work completed by Age-UK Barnet ensure that no older individual is left alone and can often be as simple as having a quick chat and cup of tea.
I have been able to see first hand the vital work Age-UK Barnet provide to the older community, through my mum. My mum is the falls prevention coordinator at Age-UK Barnet where she works closely with local hospitals and directly with the older population. Her work helps reduce the number of severe falls each year and has helped increase awareness around the severity of these falls in later life.
Any support you can provide to this great charity would be greatly appreciated
and donations will be used to continue meet the needs of a group
often left behind by many.
