Kirklees Way Challenge in aid of Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice -the fast and not so fast way
This October Father and Son, David and Richard Anderson, will tackle the 73miles of the Kirklees Way in aid of the Children’s Hospice in Kirklees.
The route will start and finish at Russell House, the site of the hospice.
Richard, an Ultra Runner and Triathlete will run the 73 miles in one go on October 8th. David will walk it in 2–3-hour sections with his dog Max and aim to finish at the same time as Richard.
Anyone wanting to join David or Richard for any of the sections will be more than welcome
David has lived and worked as a GP in Huddersfield for over 30 years. He is now retired and is a Trustee at the FGMNT. Throughout
his career, he realised how important it was for people to be able to access high quality dedicated services when faced with challenging illnesses and diagnoses. None more so than when it is children and young people with life limiting illnesses or pregnancies which do not go to plan.
Richard spent his childhood in Huddersfield before moving to Cumbria, where he has lived for the last 9 years. He has competed at an elite level as a triathlete and completed a number of the iconic endurance challenges in the Lake District. He has set the second fastest ever mid winter Bob Graham Round and is the current record holder for the Frog Graham Round. Working in public finance, he recognises the valuable work carried out by the hospice and is excited to take on this challenge to raise awareness and support the hospice.
