A little info about the “Charmouth Challenge”. The event is described as the most southerly fell race in England. The 8 mile course starts just above sea level in the costal village of Charmouth, and moves straight to a climb of about a mile rising over 120m, it levels off and then drops back down hill. Then a long 140m climb to Golden Cap, the highest point on the south coast of England at 191m. Back down again and head to the finish line via the coastal path and a few more large hills.
This link will take you to the office web site http://www.charmouthchallenge.co.uk/default.html I completed a 5 mile run last year, but have never done 8 miles before. My target is to finish (not that surprising), with the lesser target of not coming last!! Multiple sclerosis (MS) is the most common disabling neurological condition affecting young adults. Around 100,000 people in the UK have MS. The reason for me choosing the Multiple Sclerosis Society charity was my cousin, who is still in her 30’s. She was diagnosed with the condition a few years ago and although the effects were minimal in the early days, her condition has worsened and even basic activities we take for granted are increasingly challenging for her. Today she now has problems walking and needs a wheelchair to travel any distance. The charity helps support people with the condition and also helps fund research into it.
