London Edinburgh London is a 1500 km self-supported cycle journey across the United Kingdom, between the iconic capital cities of England and Scotland.
The event is not a race, but you only have 125 hours to complete the journey, Every 24 hours riders need to find time to sleep, eat and ride in excess of 300 Km, The route will take us over the Forth Bridge to Dunfirmline on the north side of Edinburgh then on a return route back to the start point at London.
The event itself is run every 4 years and riders from a reported 58 countries will be taking part, (India/Japan 219/53 riders) entry is by application and Ballot,
Unfortunately for me I was successful in my application, I say unfortunate, because reading through the results of the last event in 2017 (5 years due to Covid) 47% failed to complete the challenge in the allocated time for various reasons.
I will be Riding the Event as a personal challenge, but I would also like to raise monies for Prostate Cancer UK, my Employers (EDF) Charity Partner, I have lost my parents, Brother also several close family members, and Friends to Cancer, various types.
This in my opinion is a good enough reason to commit to attempting this mammoth challenge, I am sorry to be asking for donations during the current challenging climate, but please take a minute to consider A startling 1 in 8 people with a prostate will be affected by prostate cancer, this reduces to 1 in 4 if you are over 50, have family history of Cancer or if you are Black, Prostate Cancer UK pioneer research and support everyone affected by the disease.
Supporting me by donating through JustGiving to this worthy cause is simple, fast and secure. Your details will be safe. And you can choose to not receive unwanted e-mails. Money will be given directly to the charity, so this is the most efficient way to donate.
Thanks
Dave
