Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My son Douglas took his own life in July 2000 when he was 15. October 10 is his birthday. He was a young man that was creative, enjoyed people but had little belief in himself.
Your amazing generosity will give local young people additional support and opportunities.
Oasis Waterloo Youth Team are working together with youth services from Northern Ireland. A group of young people from Northern Ireland will visit London, with a group from Oasis Waterloo visiting local communities in Northern Ireland in the Spring 2020.
This partnership will focus on key themes of building community relations, violence reduction, drug & alcohol misuse and young people’s mental health.
There are a number of key aims for such a partnership including:
Developing resourcefulness and resilience among young people
Improving the self worth and confidence of young people
Strengthening their leadership qualities of young people
Improving understanding between different communities and individuals
This programme will be delivered alongside our core Hub Youth programme.
Your amazing financial support for destroying Dave’s beard will enable Oasis Waterloo to continue our supportive and therapeutic work with young people and also enable them to have a life changing experience visiting communities in Northern Ireland.
