Story
Thank you for visiting this page, set up in memory of my uncle Gareth, and to raise awareness and support for those suffering with Motor Neurone Disease.
In early 2014, Gareth started to have some difficulty with fine motor control, particularly with his fingers and increasingly his speech. Over the next several months he went through many tests as his symptoms worsened. He was finally diagnosed with MND in January 2015.
Seeing Gareth at irregular intervals only emphasised how rapid his deterioration was, but also how extremely brave he was right to the end. Sadly, he passed away on 7th November 2015.
Andy, Gareth's son (my cousin), signed up to do this cycle ride in his memory and then persuaded me to join him on the ride. No arm twisting was required to remember a brilliant, loving and fun uncle and take the opportunity to give a little bit back to MNDA who helped Gareth and his family during his struggle with MND.
Those who knew Gareth will remember him fondly, and he will be greatly missed. Please support both Andy and me in our challenge, by sponsoring either or both of us in aid of MNDA.
