Fundraising update 2022
Navigating life without our dad this past year has been desperately hard for us all.
Everyone tells you that the first Birthday, Christmas and anniversaries are hard and you expect and accept this. However nothing prepares you for the every day heartache of learning to live without someone you loved so much.
We have been blessed to be surrounded by our loving extended family and caring friends who have been by our sides supporting us, and we are extremely grateful for this. We also acknowledge that dad held such a prominent part in all of their lives & that you all miss him so much too.
Our dad always knew how lucky he was to be under the care of the haematology department within Addenbrookes hospital. For 8 years he was continuously monitored and the confidence dad had in his care was greatly reassuring for us all.
Dad was admitted into Addenbrookes in April 2021 whilst we were still living with COVID 19 restrictions. His specialist did everything he could for dad & allowed mum to visit with him every day.
When dad was given the devastating news that his Leukaemia had transitioned into the more aggressive Richters syndrome dad immediately volunteered to take part in a clinical trial. He wanted to help. Unfortunately his condition rapidly progressed so he was unable to.
So as a family we have taken on the challenge in the name of Dave Fish to fundraise for the leukaemia research department within Addenbrooks hospital. Our hope is that one day a diagnosis likes dads could lead to a progressive treatment program & even a cure. We know that this is what dad would have wanted us to do & that he’d be so proud of us and of all of you for helping.
As of September 2022 we have raised over £5,800. This is a combination of donations, matched giving and sponsorship. We thank everyone who has helped us so far.
This year we have more fundraising events planned.
Dads grandson John is following in his granddad’s footsteps literally by tracing his handwritten marathon training plan and running the London marathon in October.
Nicola has ran a 10k race for life and is also running the London Parks half marathon.
In September we hosting a fundraiser function combining music and friendship with a raffle and auction. It’s going to be an amazing night dancing the night away to dads favourite music and we can’t wait to all be together.
We intend to keep this fundraising going for as long as possible and will continue to update you all with our progress.
Thank you once again for all your support

2021
Our beloved Dave Fish leaves a huge void in all our lives. He was a dedicated loving dad to us and an amazing, fun filled grandad to his six grandchildren. Most of all our dad was the one true love of our mum Carole and they were happily married for 52 years. Their life together truly is the greatest love story of all time. Their marriage, commitment, dedication and love for each other is what every song, sonnet & poem is written about.
We know that our dad meant so much to so many different people and as a family we have been overwhelmed by the love and kindness shown to us all. We have requested that there are to be no flowers at Dads funeral, however we are aware that some may wish to show their gratitude for the amazing care that was given to our dad at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge. All proceeds raised from this page will be directed straight to a fund specially set up for clinical studies and trials for the specific type of Leukaemia that dad had.
Thank you so much in advance for your generosity. Love from Donna, Nicola and Carole xxx
