The Corrigan family (twelve in all) will be climbing Ben Nevis on the 1st August 2009. 'Team Corrigan' will be raising money for Christie's, more specifically the A.L.U.P.A.L Unit.

This is being done in loving memonry of Dave and in celebration of what would have been his 50th Birthday on the 6th October 2009.

The A.L.U.P.A.L Unit's overiding objective is to provide and improve upon the support, financial or otherwise, provided by the NHS for patients and families of the haemotology and transplant unit of The Christie (formerly known as the Adult Leukemia Unit, and hence ALUPAL).

The charity helps patients and their families overcome some of the day to day challenges that they encounter when faced with life threatening illnesses and long periods of isolation whilst receiving high intensity chaemotherapy and stem cell transplants etc whilst on the unit.

Whilst recognising the excellent clinical care and support provided by The Christie, ALUPAL also recognises that patients and their families need that little extra support which is often outside NHS resources, this may include help with personal expenditure or simply newspapers, TV's, DVD's, CD's and aromatherapy services during their stay. In particular ALUPAL funded a nebuliser for Dave to use at home.

We are aware we are in the midst of a credit crunch and that all charities are a worthy cause but if any of Dave's friends and colleagues at GMP feel that they would like to sponsor us we would be extremely grateful!

Ben Nevis is a very big mountain to climb, but remembering what Dave went through during the four and a half years of his illness we know we will do it!!!!
