Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In November 2016 I will be setting off on both a personal and a charity challenge, flying to Cambodia to start (and hopefully finish) a 400km cycle from Angkor Wat to Bangkok in Thailand.
Those of you that know me will be aware that I'm not an active cyclist, in fact the last time my bike came out the basement was when I moved house 3 years ago! So there we have the first challenge, get fit enough to not only complete the challenge but to be able to potentially enjoy it, especially the downhill bits...
I'm also not a particularly adventurous person (in my eyes, some may say otherwise), so to fly half way around the globe to spend a week with people I've never met before will be a big personal challenge.
I have a great love of Asian culture, food and way of life; so to be immersed in this during my challenge will go some way to smoothing the road and adding plenty of enjoyment during my travels. I'll be sure to sample some of the fantastic food available (all the healthy stuff anyway!)
So you have my personal ramblings, but let’s get down to the business...
Marie Curie is a fantastic charity, who provide care and support for more than 40,000 people in the UK. Not only for those suffering from terminal illness, but offering help and support to their friends and families. They do a fantastic job, and I am very proud to be fundraising on their behalf.
The challenge is being arranged via Charity Challenge, who arrange challenges across the world and have helped people raise in excess of £47 million for 1700 charities.
There are naturally costs involved, however all these will be met by myself, so all of you good people who donate (please Gift Aid, if you are eligible) can be safe in the knowledge that every last penny of your hard earned money will be going direct to Marie Curie rather than for me to have a bit of a jolly.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
