Story
The London Marathon is an amazing event, one that we've both been lucky enough to take part in before, so we don't underestimate the extent of the commitment to preparing for it that's required, both from a training and a fund raising perspective.
When we were given the chance to run it in our 50th year for a such a worthy charity we were thrilled (and probably a little bit mad) to accept the challenge.
The Greater London Fund for the Blind has been a customer of RnD's for a number of years, it is an incredible charity and we are delighted to be representing it.
Here are some facts that you might not be familiar with:
- There are an estimated 200,000 people in London who are living with some form of sight loss.
- Sight loss affects people of all ages and can strike at any time.
- Every day, 250 people in the UK start to lose their sight.
- The GLFB was established in 1921 and has been helping to improve the lives of blind and partially sighted people by helping them to overcome many of the challenges associated with sight loss.
- Only 1/4 of registered blind and partially sighted people are employed.
- With GLFB's support and that of their member charities, these individuals are able to regain confidence in themselves whilst also beginning to improve their well-being and independence.
Anything you can donate for this great charity would really be appreciated, both from the GLFB and Claire and myself.
Thank you so much.
