Story
So we made it! At approximately 1500 on Saturday the 6th of July the 5 intrepid walkers arrived back in Llanberis after 22 hours and 11 minutes of, to coin J. Barnes Esq "Sheer Hell". The hottest day of the year/century in North Wales certainly added to the challenge.
The experience was brilliant, we completed each of the hills in under 4 hours and the effort was made all the more worthwhile by your extremely generous contributions. A truly memorable experience so thank you all. Some photos of our efforts below.
On the 5th of July Dave and Chris, as part of a bigger group, will make their assault on the 3 highest peaks in Great Britain. The challenge, to cover 26 miles of walking, 3000m of ascent and 450 miles of driving all in 24 hours. We know what you’re thinking, that’s no challenge for two lithe, sprightly, mountain goat types but rest assured this is tough.
If the intrepid and world renowned explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes knew of the challenge he would probably have said something like, “Not since Hillary and Norgay have two such fine exponents of mountaineering made such a momentous and challenging journey as this” or words to that effect.
So, if you could see your way to incentivise us up Nevis, Scafell and Snowden we would be much obliged and any donations you can make would make a real difference to a charity doing important work. We will do our best to do it in 24 hours but will certainly make it in a single continuous effort.
