Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 31st May 2014 I will be taking part in what has been claimed to be one of UK's toughest Iron Distance triathlons.
My event consist of a:
3.8km (2.4mile) open water swim in the Firth of Forth
followed by a 180km (112mile) bike ride from the Forth shoreline to Glencoe.
and lastly... approx. 27 mile run/hike from Glencoe, to the peak of Ben Nevis and back down, finishing in Glen Nevis!
The bike stage packs approx. 8,200ft of ascent (181kms and 2,500m), and the run stage has 7,900 feet (2,400m) of ascent, making it a very tough objective in its own right, not least on the back of the preceding bike and swim stages.
I do however get to do this event over two days, completing the swim and cycle on the Saturday, camping over in Isle of Glencoe Saturday night before taking on the marathon on the Sunday...... back in work Monday at 7.30am for my 12hour shift all being well! Simples haha.
My tent and overnight bag is transported for me so I don't need to carry these items, but I will be taking a small rucksack carrying all my food, emergency kit and waterproofs, as who knows what the weather will be like at the top of Nevis!
Its a little bit short notice but to help keep me motivated at times of wanting to give up, I would like to try and raise some money for Parkinsons UK.
Unfortunately my uncle suffers from this terrible disease and I have seen first hand how this effects relatives.
Anything you can give to help this charity would be highly appreciated and your support towards myself in undertaking this challenge would certainly mean a lot.
I will try my best to keep you all updated on my Facebook page with photos etc.
All money raised goes direct to the charity, and I have paid for this event all myself so not a single penny will be spent in paying for this challenge.
