Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As most of you will know I receive the gift of life in May 2016 at the QEHB following acute liver failure. All thanks to the wonderful staff at the QEHB something that would not have been possible with my hero and his heroic family my donor.
In January of 2016 I was fit and healthy by the end of January I was on the way to needing a Liver transplant which I received in May. The cause of which has never and will probably never be established. Whilst being treated at the QEHB I asked about the possibility of doing triathlons post transplant expecting to be told "don't be so stupid". In fact the opposite happened and I was told yes you could provided you increase the training gradually.
So here we are 3 years after my transplant having completed one sprint triathlon 11 months after my transplant and an Olympic distance 18 months after ready to start Ironman UK on 14th July.
I am asking for donations to the Liver trust at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham so that they can continue their great work helping liver patients and their families.
Raising awareness of the benefits of organ donation is also important to me so I would ask that everyone who donates registers to be an organ donor and as importantly has a conversation about their wishes with their family.
I will also be promoting organ donation throughout my fund raising efforts and will be wearing a specially commissioned triathlon suit on the day so look out for me.
