Story
The bike - and general fitness - has been rather neglected since the first lockdown last year so this is an opportunity to get back in the saddle and the pool and raise some funds for a super cause at the same time. I started working at Belron in March this year with some really great people and this event shows how positive the organisation is.
Last year they ran, walked, cycled and swam over four times around the world but in true Belron style, with your help, we aim to top that this year. This year will mark a special moment as Belron employees celebrate 20 years of getting together to support our global charity partner, Afrika Tikkun. It all started in 2002 when our Belron CEO Gary Lubner and a small number of people took part in the first Belron Triathlon at the ExCel Centre in London. The following year 60 people competed in the event and raised 40,000, allowing funding for 8 cooks and thousands of nutritious meals to be provided to communities in Johannesburg. By 2011, our 10th anniversary, 1,000 people took part in the event raising 1 million. This money funded all the child and youth development programmes across five communities in South Africa. Across the years we have exceeded our own expectations and last year, despite the challenges of the ongoing pandemic, we raised over 1.7 million in support of Afrika Tikkun.
Thanks in advance for your support and donations. I’ll be tired by the end of Sunday but should be worth it!
