Story
Cavendish Cancer Care is a Sheffield charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for those living with cancer and their loved ones.Last year, they supported over 1,900 people affected by cancer, including carers and children. I've been involved with their fundraising team as a volunteer for a few years now. In common with most charities they're facing a serious shortfall in funds as fundraising events are cancelled or postponed due to ongoing coronavirus pandemic. One such major event was the 'Run For All' Sheffield Half Marathon, due to take place today (March 29th). I don't run these days but I thought I'd do my own half- marathon by using my 'exercise periods' to walk a mile every day for 13 days. That didn't seem much of a challenge though, so I've upped it to 5 miles a day. I started on the 27th (so I've done 3 so far) and hope to finish on April 8th (assuming I manage to stay 'virus free'!). I realise that many other worthy charities are currently in the same boat and desperate for funds, and also that money's tight and going to become much tighter. If you could spare a couple of bob though, to sponsor me, I'd be very grateful. I'll also match any sponsorship up to £25. Thanks for reading this, all the best and stay safe. Cheers, Dave
