Story
Having had to pull out of the 2016 ride we have volunteered(!!) again to take part in the Big Battlefield Bike Ride in aid of Help for Heroes on 11 September2017.
Following our successful completion of BBBR14 & BBBR15 rides from Brussels to Paris via the World War 1 battlefields and from Paris to Windsor via the World War 2 Normandy beaches it was easy for Anne and I to decide to take on the 2017 challenge. Both the previous rides have been emotional, inspiring and fun. It was a privilage to ride with those who have faced their challenges head on and shown us mere mortals that with the right attitude anything is possible.
We are really looking forward to the privilage of riding with and helping these guys who couldn't have got their lives back on track without the support of Help for Heroes and all their generous supporters like you.
I know many of you generously supported us for the last 2 rides but the needs of these guys will continue for years to come so anything you can give will be much appreciated. This years challenge starts in Lille and finishes in Arnham having visited Brussels and Eindhoven on the way. The ris will cover 350 mles over 5 days, with 250 other cyclists, through World War 1 or World War 2 battlefields to recognise the sacrifices made by Britishtroops over the years. The event will raise much needed funds for H4H to enable them to continue their work assisting the rehabilitation of the members of our Armed Forces who have been injured in action.
We will bestopping at different places, cemeteries and landmarks, on the route to take in some of the history and remember those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom.
Why are we doing it?
Anne’s son Richard has been in the Army for 9 years now and, fortunately, has safely come through two 6 month tours of Afghanistan. Something that a number of his friends andcolleagues haven't been lucky enough to do. We have been volunteering at eventsfor H4H over the past few years and are keen to add our further support through this event
A condition of taking part in the event is that we pledge to raise £3,000
each. This isn’t going to be easy so if you are able to sponsor us we
would be most grateful and it will help us to keep pedalling!
We will let you know how we get on and you can also follow our progress this charity page!

About Help for Heroes
What is H4H all about? It's about the blokes, our men and women of the Armed Forces. It's about Derek, a rugby player who has lost both his legs, it about Carl whose jaw is wired up so he has been drinking through a straw. It's about Richard who was handed a mobile phone as he lay on the stretcher so he could say goodbye to his wife. It's about Ben, it's about Steven and Andy and Mark, it's about them all. They are just blokes but they are our blokes; they are our heroes. We want to help our heroes.
