Story
Please join us in helping animals like Holly! We currently foster Holly. She joined us in November, having been found in a field in Franklin County with her two siblings. Unfortunately, Holly did not have use of her back legs, was emaciated and very fearful of humans. The very kind good samaritans who found her took her to a local animal hospital and contacted Second Chance, who brought her into the program and committed to providing the love, support and medical care she needed.
Holly is about 14 months old and she started rehab shortly after we took her in. We are grateful to the wonderful rehab veterinarian (Dr Elizabeth) and techs (Megan and Mariah) who provide excellent care. Holly has seen great improvement. While it is highly unlikely she will have 'normal' use of her back legs she is now able to stand and take multiple steps. She also gets around easily by scooting and is usually the first of our pack to get to the pantry door when it's snack time!
Holly's face lights up when we put her in her wheels and find a place where she can literally run (we also call her Ponie because of how her front legs look like they're prancing!)! She has a wonderful spirit and is a very happy dog. She is a wonderful example of how Second Chance lives its Mission. We are committed to finding homes for healthy and treatable cats and dogs in our community.
