Story
Hello, I am Dave Brown, Headteacher at Cheadle Hulme High School and I have created this JustGiving page to represent the staff at Cheadle Hulme High School.
A number of staff here (and across The Laurus Trust) are taking part in this walk to raise money for St Ann's Hospice.
We have chosen this amazing charity for two reasons:
It is a wonderful facility in our local area that we know a lot of our families have been so grateful to have on their doorstep. The level of care, compassion and commitment is truly inspirational.
St Ann's is also where our beloved colleague and friend, Carol Picciotto, sadly passed away in December 2019. I would like to tell you a little more about Carol.
She joined the teaching staff at Cheadle Hulme High School in 2001 and was appointed Assistant Headteacher in 2004 and Director of Sixth Form from its opening in 2013 until early 2019 when she retired. Carol project managed the opening of the CHHS Sixth Form from the initial bid and was instrumental in the Ofsted Outstanding achievement in 2015. Additionally, Carol co-wrote the bids for The Laurus Trust's five other free schools and her legacy will be her huge role in the creation of more than 4000 additional school places for young people in Greater Manchester. Her contribution to The Laurus Trust vision and Cornerstone Programme to underpin a Laurus education cannot be underestimated.
A Durham University graduate, a highly talented languages and ICT teacher with a sharp wit and a career spanning both the public and private sectors, she is sorely missed by many.
Thank you for reading my page. CHHS are grateful and thank you for any donation you are able to make.
