SPONSORED 5K RUN
As many of you will know, I had a total replacement of my right hip last summer. After what seemed like a life time of pain, and days when I could hardly walk, thankfully the operation was a complete success. The recovery has been slow, but I am getting there. I am going to run a sponsored 5K to raise funds for the Sports Centre repairs, on the school field at 11am on 23rd July, a year to the day after my surgery.
Lilia, my daughter loves going there to soft play on a Saturday morning, it is a great resource for the students and school. The whole community will benefit from these repairs. Please if you can spare any money, sponsor me what you can. Alternatively, should you wish to join me, and participate in a socially distanced (and slow) 5K, I would ask for a small donation of £5.
The Sports Hall floor has deteriorated to a point where it is no longer safe to use and we are keen to reinstate the facilities for both our students and the community. On 28 May 2020 Sandwich Technology School became the new owners of the site. The school is working hard with Freedom Leisure to engage their services, so that in partnership with them we can ensure: - The Sandwich Sports and Leisure Centre re-opens to the public as soon as possible - The building continues to provide a service for the local community - We bring the building back up to a condition that is fit for purpose for both school pupils and the public. To re-open there are going to be some substantial costs involved - currently the building has about £250,000 worth of issues that need addressing and the Sports Hall itself will remain out of bounds until the floor is fixed. The school is willing to invest a significant amount of money but we are asking for your help. Thank you - every £ donated helps us.
