Story
‘Imagine the excitement that the birth of your first child brings, but then your child is born early. Imagine hearing at less than an hour after delivery that that precious little life can only continue with lifesaving surgery. A whirlwind, a blur of incubators, wires, tubes, doctors, nurses, machines and sore hands from hand gel. Your first child taken to surgery, returning paralysed and sedated for days after and all you can do is watch.
Through all this, the team from the Grand Appeal and Cots for Tots were so supportive and took away the stress of how Eilidh’s dad and I would stay close to Eilidh during her month in St Michaels in Bristol.
Eilidh’s journey is not over however, as she still requires lifesaving cardiac surgery before she is a young adult meaning this charity and all the research, support and lifesaving equipment it provides will once again come to Eilidh’s rescue’.
In June 2024 Phil (who has taken this amazing charity to heart following their support of very close family friends) will be joined on his next adventure challenge, cycling 350 miles from London to Amsterdam (over 4 days, via France and Belgium), by Desiree (Daisy), Eilidh’s mummy. This will be Daisy’s first endurance cycling challenge and will be the longest distance Phil has covered. We will be doing some other fun things along the way to help raise as much money as possible and have committed to covering the costs of participation ourselves, so every penny donated goes to where it’s needed most.
