Story
I had, what many would consider a normal, safe and loving childhood. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for lots of children and I want to my bit to help those that don't. One way I thought I could do this was by supporting the work of the NSPCC. An organisation that has been looking after the interests of children for a long time.
Whether physical, mental, sexual abuse or neglect, the outcomes and impact can be seen and felt for lifetimes. With the help of the NSPCC we can educate, support and help rebuild. In our ever connected digital world having somewhere that children and families can turn for help has never been more important.
I thought a good way to support this cause was by putting myself forward for the Birmingham Velo. A greuelling 100 mile bike race around the West Midlands. The worrying thing is that at the point of signing up to do this I hadn't ridden in earnest since my late teens. So it's going to be a real struggle to get fit during the winter months and get ready in time. I have a new bike, and unealthy amount of Lycra clothing and the focus and determination to make it happen.
Please help me by donating generously. Every single donation will give me the encouragement on the hard, wet and cold days to see this through and together we can help make a difference.
Thanks, Darren
