Story
In early September, I will be cycling ‘The Way of the Roses’ Coast to Coast route. I will be helping to raise funds for two amazing charities: Prostate Cancer UK & Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust who provide essential support to those suffering from these horrible diseases.
Please can you spare a moment of your time and a little of your hard-earned cash to support me and help raise funds for these wonderful charities.
Prostate Cancer UK (1005541)
Funding research that will stop men dying from prostate cancer.
Too many men are needlessly dying of prostate cancer. The latest data shows that the number of men dying each year has gone up (again) and underscores the terrible fact that this disease is as big as breast cancer. The latest data shows that 12,000 men died of prostate cancer in one year. That’s 12,000 friends, brothers, lovers and dads.
Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust (1133542).
The UK’s leading cervical cancer charity.
Every day in the UK, 9 women are diagnosed with Cervical Cancer and sadly two women die. Every year 220,000 women are diagnosed with Cervical Cell changes. Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust wants to make Cervical Cancer a thing of the past. Until this is achieved, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust want to be there for anyone who needs them for as long as they need them. From first Cervical Screening to living beyond cancer they are just a call or a message away.
The Route
The Way of the Roses cycle ride is a long-distance challenge, starting in Morecambe and taking in the historic counties of Lancashire and Yorkshire on route to Bridlington with some 170 miles (274km) along with 2500 metres of ascent, using minor roads, disused railway lines and designated cycle paths along the way.
The event is supported by the Freemasons Charity Yorkshire North & East Ridings (170209) who are supporting a 45 strong cycling team, with a dedicated backup support team.
All funds raised (including gift aid) will be distributed equally to Prostate Cancer UK (1005541) and Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust (1133542).
