Story
Terry was both a family man, and a football man who impacted many peoples lives over a number of years - probably more than we realised at the time. Personally, I cant speak highly enough about him; from the times he would sit myself and Paul down in his back garden to talk football for hours or tell us stories, to the times he would give me advice on what i needed to do to improve my game, and just advice in general. He made me believe in myself and when it came to football, I would hang on every word he said.
Terry was sadly taken from us on 22/08/2011, and although he is in a better place now - he is greatly missed every day by his wife Ann, his 2 children Paul and Nicola, amongst others.
Ann, Paul and Nicola have kindly agreed to myself and Colin Charles request to play a charity game in Terrys memory, and whilst participating, we also aim to raise some money for Macmillan Cancer Support, as this was the illness involved.
Paul predomintantly played for English Martyrs as a kid, but also played for Barton Rovers - We are trying to recreate a Martyrs vs Barton cup final from 1996/97 in which both Terry and Paul were involved, and will have a large number of players involved from that particular day.
This event will be held on Sunday 28th May at Scours lane; We aim to play the game in good spirits, and then make use of the bar afterwards where we can all catch up again, and share our stories/memories of Terry.
I appreciate we all have our preferred charities, and I'm sure we all do our bit elsewhere, but if you can afford anything at all then please donate to this very worthy cause. Any money raised here will go directly to Cancer Research, and and further money raised on the day will be sent there in the form of a cheque.
