The Cambrian 300

On the 21st June, Darren Roberts will step-off on a 300 mile trek from north to south Wales to raise money for the Velindre Cancer Centre in Cardiff. Starting at Conwy Castle and finishing at Cardiff Castle, he will follow a route over the great Welsh mountain ranges: Snowdonia, Cambrian Mountains, Brecon Beacons and the Black Mountains.
Darren, originally from north Wales, is a former Royal Marines Commando and an experienced mountaineer, having climbed in the Himalayas, Andes and throughout the European Alps. In 2016, he was diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease. Determined not 'to go gentle into that good night' , this trek will be one of his greatest challenges.
The trek is dedicated to the memory of Darren's late wife, Shelly who passed away in November 2020 at the age of 51. She was treated at Velindre since her cancer diagnosis in October 2016.
