Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I am running the york marathon and doing the 100 mile a month challenge to raise money for the changing lives project; a York based charity very close to our hearts. They offer support to people with addictions. My brother in law James struggled with addictions throughout his short life. Although addiction was not the direct cause of his death; it was the dark, unforgiving and violent world of drug addiction which led to his untimely death. He was taken from us far too soon, murdered by drug dealers for a drug debt.
James was a funny, intelligent, larger than life young man, who sadly saw his life spiral out of control in the past couple of years. Heroin and his addiction to this evil drug led him into a world where he was acquainted with violent criminals, which in turn led to his death.
Changing Lives is a national, registered charity which provides specialist support for thousands of vulnerable people and their families, every month. Through pioneering and innovative work they support people to make positive, lasting changes in their lives. Their aim is to help people to stop the cycle of addiction.
Until you have been close to someone with addiction, it is difficult to fully comprehend the impact it can have. If we can save just one young person and their family from the same heartache we have experienced, it will be worthwhile. I want to raise money to help this charity to support young people and save them from the dark world of addiction. I am running the york marathon in James's memory and ask for your generous sponsorship to help us raise as much money as possible.
