Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On Saturday 22nd June 2013, I will be taking part in the British Heart Foundations, London to Brighton Trek.
After losing my Father suddenly five years ago, aged 59, and my Uncle in 1999, aged 53, the British Heart Foundation has become one of the charities very close to my heart.
I was asked last year by my Aunt’s husband, Phil White, if I would like toaccompany him and his friend Brian, in taking on the challenge! How could I refuse, especially when Phil himself had just undergone triple heart bypass surgery and what a way to mark the fifth anniversary of my fathers death.
The Challenge itself is to walk from Kempton Park Race Course to Brighton Race Course, a total of 100 km (62 miles), which is to be completed in 30 hours, therefore trekking through the night!
Oh, and yes, with my knees….even by my own admission, this is one of the craziest things I have ever done, considering the seven knee operations I’ve had over the last 10 years, It just makes it more of a challenge!!
Below is an idea of where the route will pass through if anyone would like to come and support us or even give us some encouragement by walking a few miles with us!
• Kempton Park Race Course – 0 miles
• Weybridge – 5 miles
• Pyford Lock – 9.5 miles
• Guildford – 18.7 miles
• Shalford – 20 miles
• Cranleigh – 27 miles
• Rudgewick – 30 miles
• Southwater – 38 miles
• Partridge Green – 43 miles
• Henfield – 45 miles
• Bramber – 51 miles
• South Coast – 55 miles
• Brighton Race Course - 62 miles
My wife, Helen and Aunt, Alison will be our support team, feeding and watering us as we go. You will be able to contact them if you wish to join us along the way.
Any donation no matter how small would be greatly appreciated, heart disease touches us all. Every year, thousands die prematurely, and those who survive can find life difficult and frightening. The British Heart Foundation is dedicated to research aimed at ending the suffering caused by heart disease.
Thank you in advance for your donations.
