At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

My family and I are living with the daily pain of watching our father (a kind, proud & strong man) wasting away and dying the slowest of deaths before our eyes.  My father has Lewy Body Dementia which continues to destroy him both mentally and physically, his decline started rapidly but is now being dragged out by a body and mind that is faltering but refusing to give up.  Our story is no different to that of millions of others but this is my small contribution to trying to alleviate suffering and finding a cure to this great destroyer.

This disease keeps on taking a bit at a time at the slowest of paces with no positives, there are no good days for an Alzheimer's sufferer and their families.  We must do all we can to help stop this cruellest of diseases.

Unfortunately, due to my own medical diagnosis I cannot join the marathon, triathlon or iron-man craze to help raise funds.  So this is my own minuscule effort and I would be mightily grateful if you could make your own small contribution for my efforts and for the talented people who are either heroically nursing patients or endlessly striving to find a cure.

Thank you!
