We provide free end-of-life care to people affected by life-limiting illness

Story

I have been dreaming of swimming the English channel since witnessing my sister successfully complete it solo just over 25 years ago. She has been a massive inspiration to me and continues to coach me now.

I was lucky enough to swim it with her 2 years later, both being part of a 6 person relay team.

At first, the reason for booking my solo attempt was to keep me motivated to be fit and healthy. As a paramedic, shift work can really be hard on you and as we all know the last few years have been even harder again.

Weston Hospicecare have both helped a friend and family members of friends lately and I have also come in contact with them in a professional capacity. I can not speak highly enough of their amazing work in the most difficult of circumstances.

About Weston Hospicecare: Receiving an end-of-life diagnosis can be difficult, not just for the patient but also for their loved ones. At Weston Hospicecare, our team of palliative care experts is dedicated to working together to provide specialist support. Our social, emotional, psychological, spiritual and physical care helps guide people through one of the most difficult experiences they will ever face. With only 20% of our funding coming from the NHS, we have to raise £4 million each year to fund our care - something that's only made possible by our community.
