Story

Healthy Minds is a University of Bristol initiative, which aims to help students experiencing mental health difficulties to support their wellbeing through a bespoke exercise programme. Students benefit from the physical activity itself, but also by being paired up with a mentor - a member of the fitness team with advanced mental health training - who coaches them throughout.

The mental health and wellbeing of our students is a key priority of ours and with the help of generous alumni and friends, the DARO department has raised over £35,000 so far to support the programme. With the Bristol 10k coming up, a group of us from DARO thought it would be a great chance to practise what we preach and run alongside fellow staff, students, alumni and friends - many of whom are taking part in support of Healthy Minds.

The training journey has been long and hard - there's definitely been some stropping - but each Thursday lunch time run we accomplish, we really feel the benefits of being more physically active. Knowing that we're supporting student mental health, whilst also supporting our own, is really helping us along the way!

Please consider donating today, we would be delighted if you could.
