Story
In the middle of 2019 I was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma, and weeks before my 49th birthday started chemotherapy. Luckily this only lasted 3 months and culminated in 2 weeks of radiotherapy just before Christmas.
Several scans later (and a pandemic) was given the news it is in remission...phew.
During the pandemic took the aim of 10,000 steps a day for a month, fun as it is around 5 miles. Then one month I took it a bit further and managed to cover around 220 miles; this set me thinking...
Land's End to John o' Groats a nice walk of some 1000 miles, gulp. Something I have always had in the back of my mind and after having cancer this was a wake up call, that and I'd been sat at a desk for some 30+ years.
So on the 29th April 2023 I will depart Land's End and work my way north heading to John o' Groats. The only plan I have is my route which currently sits at 1001.5 miles, the rest will be carrying what I need with wild camping (bivvy, tarp etc) and some b'n'b/hotels along the way.
Oh yes I only have 57 days to complete the walk as start work again on 26 June.
Whilst I am also raising money for the Beacon Centre, I am also raising for the MS Society as my dad, Alan, and close friends of mine also have been diagnosed with MS. Please choose either as they are both deserving causes.
