Story
I am running Simplyhealth Great North Run 2019 for The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) because its a great charity. They save lives.
We all hope it never happens, but when a major incident is declared, The Great North Air Ambulance Service is a key part of the response.
The Service brings pioneering pre-hospital care to the scene, rescuing hundreds of severely injured or ill patients every year.
Should the worst happen, their teams and other resources are ready to respond. 365 days a year.
There was 1,173 CALLOUTS in 2018.
THEY ARE ENTIRELY FUNDED BY CHARITY.
GNAAS provide air ambulance services across the North-East, Cumbria and North Yorkshire. Whether its in a city centre or a remote mountain, their medics respond to wherever they are needed in the shortest space of time. The helicopters are never more than a 15-minute flight from the nearest hospital. The three green and white helicopters are all rigged with the latest medical equipment and all carrying specially-trained paramedics and consultants.
Working with the NHS and fellow emergency services, GNAAS has become an important part of the region’s major incident response.
In the 2017/18 financial year, it cost £5.17m to operate the service. Raising this is a huge task.
This charity starts with us. Our acts of generosity help save lives.
Please help me raise £450.
Let's keep them flying.
