In January 2019, my dad, Rob, was involved in an accident on our farm that left him with a spinal cord injury causing paralysis. Horatio's Garden in Salisbury District Hospital played a massive role in keeping him and his visitors upbeat as he gradually regained movement, and learnt to live with the lasting effects of his injury.
So, this Easter, Jenny and I who are part of Devizes Canoe Club, will be competing in the 125 mile Devizes to Westminster International Canoe Race to raise funds for Horatio's Garden.
Horatio's Garden is a charity that creates and cares for beautiful and accessible gardens in NHS spinal units, allowing people living with a spinal cord injury and their families to get outside and socialise in a different and safe environment.
The race is an ultra marathon starting on the Kennet and Avon Canal in Devizes, Wiltshire, and finishing on the River Thames at Westminster Bridge in central London. As a junior crew, we will complete the 125 mile route over four consecutive days - Good Friday to Easter Monday.
Jenny and I would thoroughly appreciate your support for the event, and donations for such a fabulous cause.
