Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
There has been a huge decline in the mental health of young people as a consequence of the pandemic and their isolation, and a sharp increase in those being referred to mental health specialists.
Being a teacher, and a Pastoral Head of Year, I have witnessed first hand the struggles which young people are currently facing and would like to raise as much money as I can for YoungMinds, a children's mental health charity, to allow them to continue their fantastic work in supporting young people.
I am writing this on Saturday 14th May 2022 and in exactly one year to the day, I will be standing at the start line, at Headingley Stadium, Leeds, about to run the 26.2 miles. A bit of context about myself; running has never been my thing but I have always been quite active until September 2021 when I broke my fibula in a freak accident. Therefore, not only am I doing this challenge to try and raise as much money as I can for YoungMinds, I'm also running this marathon for myself to prove that anything can be achieved with a bit of hard work! As part of my training for the Leeds 2023 Marathon, I will be participating in the Bournemouth half marathon in October 2022, the first time ever running this distance.
Please support in any way you can by donating to this fantastic cause and if you'd like to follow my training/progress please follow me on Strava!
